THIEF is an AFI Graduation Thesis by director Julian Higgins. The story takes place in pre and post Saddam Iraq. “The film was written in English then translated into Arabic for the all-Arabic cast” said Samman. “We shot the film in a valley north of LA that resembles an Iraqi landscape. This was my very first film project in LA and was shot on 35 mm film and the whole experience was amazing!” The cast was carefully selected by Writer/Director Julian Higgins as he scoured Los Angeles theaters and cultural centers to find the prefect Arabic cast. “I met Julian at Haram Iran a play I was in earlier last year. He came to the Middle Eastern themed play to look for actors for his film ensemble and he approached me after the performance and asked if I would be interested to audition for the role of Abu Mehdi.” said Samman. “I was very fortunate for this chain of events to take place so I can be part of this amazing story.” Thief premiers Friday, January 14th at the Los Angeles American Film Institute Conservatory.

 

Actor Ayman Samman finished 2010 on high note taping a comedy sketch for the Conan O’Brien show. “I was very excited when I got the call from my manager” said Samman. “I’m a big fan of Conan and to be part of his show is a blessing”. The sketch was shot at the Los Angeles Coliseum before the Christmas Holiday and is scheduled to air on Monday, January 10 on TBS. “The sketch involves football and and amazing array of characters”  said Samman. “I think it’s gonna be very funny so tune in!”

 

Actor Ayman Samman joins the Fire Rose Productions in their 8th annual 10 minute play festival.  The festival starts by a contest for playwrights to submit their work of which a select few plays are picked to be produced. “I’m very excited to be part of the festival! There’s nothing like the energy of a live performance.” Said Samman. Ayman will be playing the role of Ali, an Iraqi baker and a single father. Bread by Randy Gross is a one act play is about two fathers – one in Pennsylvania, the other in war-torn Iraq – communicate via the web while struggling to keep their tiny bakeries afloat. “It’s a very moving play about the human condition. Shows that no matter where people are they share the same dreams and struggles” said Samman.  The play runs December 9-11, 2010 at the Secret Rose Theatre in the NoHo Art District (11246 Magnolia Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91601). After co-producing three episodes in a web series, actor Ayman Samman dove into writing and producing a short comedy named “JIHADn’t”. “JIHADn’t is a collaborative production under The ADD Channel umbrella” Samman said. “The channel was established to serve as a web outlet for our creative endeavors during our down time. JIHADn’t is one of those projects”. The video carries a strong message about tolerance and stereo typing in a humorous manner. “We’re trying to create some inspiring work as well as bridge the cultural gaps between the west and the mid east”. The ADD Channel is a website dedicated to short videos produced by the producing ensemble, Ayman Samman, Rozine, Peter Nikkos and Eva Tingley. Actor Ayman Samman recently wrapped the shoot of Impulse Black where he plays the supporting role of Agent Keets,  a rogue CIA agent who is caught up in the thrill of doing the job while losing sight of his morals. “I knew the writer/producer Jordon Hodges from my days in Chicago.” Says Samman. ” Jordon also plays the lead character in this short film and I look forward to its development into a feature length.

Actor Ayman Samman wrapped the shoot with award winning director Rob Pearlstein. Ayman plays the supporting role of a desert nomad in a comedic viral webisode promoting Samsung’s new portable Galaxy Tab. “This was a fun shoot!” Says, Samman. ” Rob and his crew were a lot of fun to work with. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with the talented and funny actor Brian Palermo. To top it off I became great friends with a camel named Harley!”.

Actor Ayman Samman, recently signed on with the producers of the web series Switch as the lead character, Dr. Adil. Ayman plays an American Army doctor Middle Eastern descent as he leads a team that investigates strange terrorist crimes committed on American soil by former American POWs. “I was very excited when I was approached by writer/director and fellow actor, Sila Agavale to play the lead role in his web series.” said, Samman. “The story line is a mix of a sci-fi/thriller/crime drama and it tackles current issues with a new spin on stereotypes”. “Switch”, follows three characters, an Army Doctor, a Female Cop and a Samoan Ex FBI Agent. It’s the last days of a secret program approved by the CIA after 9/11 called SWITCH. Decoding Bin Ladin’s sinister plan concealed in the brains of US POW’s.
